A thesaurus is a book that lets you look up words, like a dictionary, and find synonyms (words that mean the same or nearly the same). It is helpful when you are writing and want to find more interesting or sophisticated words.
First check: do you have a thesaurus in your electronic dictionary?
Options are here:
You can type the word into your browser + the words "definition" or "synonym" and see what comes up.

Error correction practice
Copy the paragraph below twice into a word document. Find and correct the errors on the 2nd copy.
First, use the spell checker. Second, use your own eyes. Third, consult with a
partner. Highlight the errors on the 1st copy in red and the corrections in
blue on the 2nd copy. Type the title - Error Correction, then your name and
student # at the top of the page and save the document as a PDF and email it to
Ms. MacGregor by Thursday May 8 at 12:00 noon. You have already bookmarked her email address, so it
should be easy to find and send. If you did not, here is her address. Then, print it out and bring it to class on May 9 - do not forget to do that!

Hot Seat
Make a group of about 4 people. Sit in a group so you can see and hear each other. You will get some cards from your teacher. Follow these instructions.
Round 1: One person in the group is in the "hot seat." The others pick up one word card and one by one give hints to help the hot seater guess the word on the card. One by one, give hints until the hot seater has guessed the word.
Round 2: A new person is in the "hot seat." The others pick up one word card and one by one give hints to help the hot seater guess the word on the card. One by one, give hints until the hot seater has guessed the word.
Continue until everyone in the group has had a turn in the "hot seat."
